Starting on July 1, 2022, Thailand is lifting most of the Covid-19 restrictions that were affecting travelers and tourists alike. Here are the most frequent questions answered by our lawyers:

Is a Thailand Pass still required to come to Thailand?

No. Starting July 1, obtaining a Thailand Pass is no longer required. This also means that travelers will no longer be required to purchase Covid-19 insurance coverage of $10,000.

Do I need a Covid test to enter Thailand?

If you are fully vaccinated (2 doses of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling), you just have to prepare proof of vaccination (e.g. EU Digital Covid Certificate).

Starting July 1, if you are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated you still need to undergo a RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test (performed by a professional) within 72 hours of arrival.

Upon arrival, there will be random checks, and those that cannot provide either a proof of vaccination or a test will be required to undergo an antigen test in the airport.

Do I still have to wear a mask?

From now on, wearing a mask outside or inside is voluntary. However, indoor use of a mask is still highly recommended. Private businesses and organizations are free to apply their own mask-wearing rules on their facilities (shops, taxis, schools…). For example, wearing a mask in BTS Skytrain is still mandatory.

Moreover, the ministry advised people to wear masks at crowded places or areas, where social distancing is not possible, or the ventilation is not good. For those who are at high risk of severe Covid-19, they are still advised to wear masks.

Are the entertainment venues open?

Yes, all pubs, bars, karaoke’s, massage parlors and nightclubs have been allowed to reopen. They returned to their normal operating hours and can now serve alcohol after midnight. Also, alcohol consumption at restaurants returned to pre-Covid hours. For gatherings of more than 2,000 people, an antigen test is still necessary.
